The National Monuments Service's description
In level grassland. On inspection in November 1984, this circular rath (D 42m), in fair condition, was defined by an earthen bank (Wth 1.6m; int. H 0.7-1.1m; ext. H 1m) with internal stone-facing. The latter was best preserved from N to NE (H 1m) but survived only intermittently elsewhere. A band of nettles (Wth 3-4m) around the bank from SE through S to SW suggested the presence of an external fosse. On re-inspection in November 2001, the rath was levelled and a band of lighter grass (Wth 2.5-3m) indicated the outline of the bank from roughly W to S. A concrete platform for the storage of silage extended into the SW quadrant of the interior and a slatted shed had been constructed to the SW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
