On the summit of a prominent hillock in otherwise level grassland. According to local information, there was a 'cemetery'here in which a number of 'fully grown skeletons', and parts of coffin furniture were found. The most recent discovery was that of a skeleton and coffin handles which were unearthed c. 1980 while making a cutting in NE part of the hillock.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
