The National Monuments Service's description
In gently undulating pastureland; formerly demesne land. Marked on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map and the OS 1:2500 plan (surveyed 1912-16) as a large roughly subrectangular enclosure tree copse (c. 58m WNW-ESE; c. 51m NNE-SSW). The trees have been cleared away and all that is visible is circular pit or hollow (diam. 20m; D 2m) that fills with water in wet weather. Probably a landscape feature associated with the demesne.
