The National Monuments Service's description
Associated with a probable enclosure (GA059-056----). Described as 'an underground passage' (Topgr. Files, NMI), it was discovered in 1953, in or near this enclosure, during the removal of tree-roots. According to local information, it was discovered in the interior when it was being cleared of trees, and consisted of two chambers. It was reputed to run to 'King's Fort' (GA059-008----), 1.25km to SSE. Though it is likely to be a souterrain, its proximity to the site of Vermont House (200m to SE) leaves open the possibility that it could be an ice house.
