The National Monuments Service's description

In N half of a ringfort (GA059-008----). What is visible is a rectangular hollow (L 16.2m, Wth 4.5m) running N-S and up to 1.4m in depth. This is flanked to E and W by two parallel earthen banks, thrown up during 'excavation' by local people some time ago. It is regarded as the site of a 'cave' which is reputed to run to another 'fort' (GA059-056001-), 1.25m to NNW. Some large stones and 'bones' were uncovered during the 'excavations' but no information was gleaned about the actual character of the 'cave'.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
