The National Monuments Service's description

Within S half of an enclosure (GA054-024----). A drystone-built passage can be traced running NE-SW (L >6.3m). Present access is at SW end via a modern breach but the passage is inaccessible. This is probably the souterrain described by Kinahan (1883-4, 11-14), which consisted of a passage and three/four chambers.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
