The National Monuments Service's description

On a gentle N-facing slope in former demesne land. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a kidney-shaped enclosure and on 3rd ed. (1932) as an oval enclosure (c. 60m by c. 40m), both tree-planted. What is visible is a very poorly preserved ploughed-out oval enclosure defined by a scarp (H 0.7m). Possibly a landscape feature associated with the nearby Castle Ffrench House.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
