The National Monuments Service's description
On a SE-facing slope in grassland. A series of low banks and scarps are referred to locally as a 'caher'. These comprise: (a) the grassed-over stone foundations of a rectangular house (NW-SE; L 8.5m, Wth 3m); (b) a slightly larger rectangular platform adjoining it at SW, and (c) a short distance to NE, a large subrectangular platform (N-S 27.4m, E-W 25.2m), possibly the 'caher' referred to above. A number of banks radiate from these features which may represent a house and associated plots. Alternatively, the large platform may perhaps be a poorly preserved ringfort. An earthwork (GA042-043----) lies c. 40m to NW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
