The National Monuments Service's description

On the crest of an E-facing slope overlooking a turlough. This rectangular enclosure (N-S 40m, E-W 32.4m ext.), in fair condition but partially overgrown, is defined by a double-faced drystone wall (Wth 1.55m, H 0.65m). The original entrance (Wth c. 2m) is set off-centre along SE side. In the interior, the foundations of two rectangular stone buildings are visible, both possibly of mortared construction: (a) immediately S of the entrance, and abutting the enclosure wall, is the outline of a poorly preserved building aligned NE-SW (L 12.7m, Wth 4.7m). This appears to be built of mortared stone and there are traces of an internal subdivision c. 4m from N end; (b) in N corner, its masonry is bonded into the enclosure wall. Its long axis runs NW-SE (L 10.9m, Wth 4.5m) and the interior is full of rubble. It has been suggested (Topgr. Files, OPW) that this is the site of a tower house but the remains are insufficient to permit classification. Possible traces of additional structures were also noted immediately SE and SW of it.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
