The National Monuments Service's description

On a rise in a cleared area of otherwise forested land. Indicated on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as an unenclosed L-shaped area (c. 25m by c. 20m) but on 2nd ed. (1899) as a larger oval area. Now enclosed by a stone wall, with the original burial area at NE. A holy well (GA040-006----) lies c. 45m to N.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993).
