The National Monuments Service's description
On a natural mound in grassland overlooking bogland to W and E. It comprises an overgrown unenclosed area, irregular in plan (E-W c. 20m), within which are a number of randomly placed set stones, most now lying recumbent. According to local information, a man who helped bury a child here about 25 years ago uncovered the skeleton of an adult during the process. The curving scarp-like feature depicted on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1926) immediately to W appears wholly natural. Possibly a CBG.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
