The National Monuments Service's description
In low-lying grassland. Oval ringfort (N-S 75m, E-W 64.5m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. Stone-facing is visible on the inner bank. The fosse and outer bank do not survive from ENE to SSE. A field wall overlies the outer bank at W and from N to ENE. Within SW sector of the interior are traces of an internal subdivision. The td. boundary cuts the monument at NW and E, to N of which is a CBG (GA030-120001-) and a possible souterrain. The latter comprises a rectangular hollow (L 8.8m, Wth 1.8m) situated immediately inside the inner bank. Its long axis runs E-W and it averages 0.5m in depth. A number of stones protrude from its sides and a large stone lies close to its mid-point.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
