The National Monuments Service's description

On a rise in undulating grassland overlooking marshy ground to N. Almost circular rath (D c. 46m), in fair condition, defined by a denuded bank, quarried out at S and W, and an external fosse. The latter is best preserved from S through W to NW. A gap at SE, now blocked, may be original. Within the interior are a circular depression (D 6.5m) and three rectangular earthen mounds (L 9.3m, Wth 3.1m, H 0.5m).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
