The National Monuments Service's description
Close to N bank of a stream in rolling pastureland. Marked on OS 6-inch maps as a small roughly rectangular area and recorded in OS Letters as 'a burying place for children ... called Lios gárán, Lissgauraun' (O'Flanagan 1927, Vol. 1 26). All that survives is an unenclosed roughly square area (L/Wth 9.5m) within which a few rows of shapeless set stones, aligned N-S, indicate graves oriented E-W. According to local information, the last burial took place in 1945. A holy well (GA029-060002-) is associated; see also GA029-060----
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
