The National Monuments Service's description

On a slight rise in undulating grassland. Subcircular rath (E-W 48.5m, N-S 46.5m), in fair condition, known locally as 'Aille Fort' (Neary 1914, 122, no. 135); defined by a scarp and external fosse from NE through S to SW. Quarrying has encroached upon the enclosing elements at NE. Field banks radiate from the monument at SE and SW. A hollow within the interior appears modern.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
