The National Monuments Service's description

On N-facing slope of a low hill overlooking the Sinking River. A large but poorly preserved circular enclosure (D 143m) (GA017-008001-). Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1932) as a markedly curving field boundary to NW of church (GA017-008002-): a section of it still survives as a curving earth and stone boundary (Wth 2m, H 1.3-2m) but it is similar in character to other field banks in the vicinity. A pond lies immediately outside it at W. Its line can also be traced from SE through S to SSW as a faint curving scarp. The interior is divided into two halves by a modern field wall running E-W, immediately to S of which is the church. This occupies a central position within the interior and also appears to have been encircled by an inner enclosure (E-W 41m) (GA017-008003-). Traces of this survive, to S of the subdividing wall, as a slightly raised platform defined by a curving scarp/wall from SE through S to SW. At SE, traces of a stone wall (Wth 1m, H 0.5m) survive, consisting of large limestone flags revetting a rubble core. Within the enclosure and immediately to S of the church is a CBG (GA017-008004-).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
