The National Monuments Service's description

This navigation beacon is on a steep S-facing slope overlooking Bofin Harbour to the S and another similar one (GA009D017----) lies c. 100m to the SSW. A third (GA009D032----) is situated across Bofin Harbour on Gun Island, c. 440m to the SSW. There are panoramic views from ENE to WNW. The beacon (D c. 3.4m) is constructed of roughly coursed masonry which is rendered and white-washed. The tower tapers slightly towards the cornice which projects beyond the eaves. Above the cornice, is capped by two stepped bands of ashlar masonry.
