The National Monuments Service's description

On the summit of a steep hillock overlooking N shore of Ballynakill Harbour. Poorly preserved D-shaped enclosure (NW-SE c. 16m) defined by a much-collapsed drystone wall. The 'fosse and traces of an outer wall' mentioned by Killanin (1954, 98) appear to be natural or modern features. Apart from a 4-6m-wide terrace at SE end, the interior is occupied by a rock outcrop.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993).
