The National Monuments Service's description
In pastureland. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1930) as a linear fosse, angular in plan. The visible remains match those on OS 6-inch map: the fosse (Wth 6m max.) averages only 0.2-0.3m in depth, is poorly defined, and now partially filled. The N arm follows a roughly NE-SW axis (L c. 120m) but meanders somewhat towards its N end where it fades out. The W arm, now largely filled in, runs W from S end of the former, following a NE-SE axis for 70m. The gap marked on OS 6-inch map about mid-point is still visible. Possibly part of a field system.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
