The National Monuments Service's description

On a W-facing slope overlooking bogland to W. Oval rath (E-W 47m, N-S 30.5m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. Both faces of the inner bank, present from E through S to W, are revetted with stone; elsewhere a scarp forms the enclosing element. The fosse and outer bank are best preserved from E through S to W. A gap at E could be original. Within the interior is a grassed-over rectangular structure of stone (L 5 m, Wth 4m), possibly a house; surrounding it are a series of mounds and hollows, probably internal divisions. A souterrain (GA005-005----) lies 375m to NW. (Neary 1914, 119, no. 21)

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
