The National Monuments Service's description

On a NW-facing slope in grassland overlooking bogland to NW. Subcircular rath (NE-SW 94m ext.), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. A field boundary cuts across the monument at NE and S, to E of which no visible surface trace survives. The inner bank is present at W; elsewhere a scarp (quarried out at WSW and N) forms the enclosing element. A field wall overlies the outer bank from S to W. A gap at W appears modern. There is a probable souterrain (GA004-009001-) within the interior.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
