The National Monuments Service's description

According to Ball (1902, 3, 81) a church at Shankill stood at the gateway leading to Shankill castle. It was in use in the 13th century (Ball 1902, 117). It is associated with St. Comgall, abbot of Bangor, Co. Down (Turner 1983, 64-5). There are no visible remains of this church.
