The National Monuments Service's description

The wall footings of a rectangular house site were recorded by James Kyle in 2003 while carrying out an archaeological survey of the lands at Newtown and Glencullen.  House site described by James Kyle as follows; 'The interior of the Rathín measured 25m in diameter and some of the stone huts which were present on the Du Noyer sketch are now either wholly or partially obscured by the growth of grass and topsoil over time. Despite that there would appear to have been little or no alteration to the interior of the enclosure in the intervening 186 years since Du Noyer visited the site. The curving internal division remains, as do the circular hut sites on the eastern side of the site and the composite circular/rectangular house/hut site on the northern side of the interior. Circular huts/houses of similar dimensions to those (2.5-3m internally) represent the most prevalent type of house found on the interior of enclosure features which date to the early medieval period, however the rectangular house on the northern side would be more common of medieval/later medieval domestic structures, something which would imply the lifespan of use for this enclosure extended well into the medieval period' (Kyle 2023, 20).
