Megalithic tomb - passage tomb

The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on the summit of Seahan Mountain from which there are extensive views of the Liffey valley, and the passage tombs at Mountpelier. The passage tomb comprises of a circular round-topped cairn (diam.28m; H 4m). A trignometrical station has been placed on the top. There are no kerbstones visible but there is a ledge around the base which indicates their presence under the cairn material. Passage tomb (DU024:047002-) lies 7m to the NE and passage tomb (DU024:046----) lies to the SW. (Healy 1961, 128; 1975, 1-19; Herity 1974, 255-7; Redmond and Mac Aonghusa 1994, 36-9). According to the OS Letters (1837) this mountain was known to the local people as 'Suighchan' or the Seat (Herity 2001, 21). From it there are extensive views of the Liffey valley, and the passage tombs at Mountpelier.
