The National Monuments Service's description
No. 172 James’s Street is a mid-terrace three-bay two-storey house, c.5m wide and c.9m in height to parapet, with modern shopfront at ground level and a carriageway to the E bay. The steep roof to the rear, running perpendicular to the street, suggests possible early origins.
