The National Monuments Service's description
This stone (1.42m x 0.30m x 0.28m) of coarse-grained slate and very brittle, is broken into four pieces and was found by Macalister (1935b, 12) during the excavation of Cill Tire burial ground, Dromore, Co. Wateford (WA029-042002-). It is one of three stones found at the site (see WA029-042003-, WA029-042006-, WA029-042010-). The inscription was initially read by him as RITUVVAS: he subsequently revised this as CATTUVIR (1945, vol. 1, 264, no. 268).
This stone has been studied as part of the ‘Ogham in 3D’ project undertaken by the School of Celtic Studies, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies. To access details go to the following website: https://ogham.celt.dias.ie/search.php?ciic=268
