Ogham stone (present location)

The National Monuments Service's description

This is the present location of 1 of 6 ogham stones (CO085-067007- with CO085-067003-; CO085-067004-; CO085-067005-; CO085-067006-; CO085-067008-) discovered in 1846 built into souterrain (CO085-067002-), in the SW quadrant of a ringfort (CO085-067001-), at Ballyhank, Co. Cork. It is a roughly-squared stone (1.4m; 0.5m x 0.4m) with an inscription, which Macalister (1945, 98, no. 101) gave as MAQI-ESEA MAQI DOMANEQI. On the angle between the two which bear the main inscription are cut what Macalister (ibid.) describes as 'a line of enigmatic characters'. (Power et al. 1997, no. 7952)
