The National Monuments Service's description

The precise location of Crumlin Castle within the townland of Crumlin has not been identified. In 1585 Gerald Fitzgerald, late Earl of Kildare was seised on 8 June 1528 of 'a castle in Cronilinge [Crumlin] 1 mes[suage], 100a' (Griffith 1991, 43). The possible castle at Crumlin may have been one of the ruinous buildings depicted on the 17th century Down Survey map of Newcastle and Uppercross Barony (Hibernia Regnum).

See attached section of Down Survey map.
