The National Monuments Service's description
Test excavations in 1999 at 189-194 King Street uncovered a burial ground containing a large quantity of disarticulated human remains. This is located in an area known as Abbey Green in 1558 and apppears to be part of the the land granted to St Mary's abbey by the city in 1213. Approximately 430 articulated human remains were excavated and recorded (Nelis 2000, 71-2).
