The National Monuments Service's description
Limited excavations at St John's Lane in 1979 exposed a series of property boundaries, houses and pathways. A wood-lined pit containg early 13th century ampulla or pilgrims flask commemorating St Thomas-a Becket of Canterbury was uncovered (1987-8, 73).
