The National Monuments Service's description
Trinity College was founded in 1592 on the lands of All Hallows Priory, outside the City walls. The priory building with the exception of the steeple was demolished to make way for the university (De Courcy, J. W.1996, -7). The original plan of the colllege referred to as the Hatfield Plan shows the college buildings set around a quadrangle (op cit.187-8).
