The National Monuments Service's description

Clarke mentions the former existence of a prison associated with St Sepulchre's Palace (DU018-020118-) in c. 1302; partly demolished by 1326, walls standing 1504 and repaired in 1529 (2002, 23). The prison seems to have abutted one of the enclosing walls of the site next to the Dean’s manse (O’Donovan 2003, 257). According to documentary sources it is located in the SE corner of the precinct, close to the Archbishop’s pillory or punishment stocks (DU018-020123-). Both were located just W of the main 18th century gates.
