The National Monuments Service's description
A tennis court was in existence before 1625 at St John's Lane at the upper end of Fishamble Street and survived until 1972 when three of its walls were demolished. The fourth created a boundary for the graveyard associated with St. John's Church (Somerville & Large, 1996, 94, 110).
