The National Monuments Service's description

Ball (1906, 188) recorded that; 'Near this [Dublin] entrance there were a dairy and dog-house, where one, Plumer, in the Duke of Ormonde's time, looked after a large kennel and probably it was when these buildings were erected that the gallows was moved, as already stated, to a more retired position near Kilmainham'. The exact location of this monument is unknown.
