The National Monuments Service's description
According to Joyce (1912) near the Phoenix column and just outside the Viceregal Grounds behind the Gate Lodge there is a clear spring which is supposed to be the original 'Fionn Uisce'. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant accepting this as an archaeological monument.
