The National Monuments Service's description
The precise location of a medieval dovecote belonging to the vicarage of Lucan has not been precisely identified. At the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1540-1 the vicarage of Lucan which was then part of the estate of the Cistercian Abbey of St Mary's (DU018-020048-), possessed; '2 mess [uages], or tenements, with a dovecot and 6 acr[es]. ar[able].; William Wedder and Richard Andrewe ; 15.s.' (White 1943, 15). This dovecote may have been located in 'The Pigeon Parke' at Lucan which was listed in the 1680 survey of the lands of Lucan (NLI MS 39/256/1). The precise location of the Pigeon Park in Lucan has not been identified.
