The National Monuments Service's description

A long, narrow headland projects into Doldrum Bay on the SE corner of Howth Head. During construction of the Baily lighthouse an extensive kitchen midden was revealed at the base of the cliff (Brunicardi 1914, 189, Stokes 1893, 451)).
