The National Monuments Service's description

Excavated in advance of proposed development (Licence no. 10E0010) a metalled trackway (c.13.5m in width) was orientated NNE-SSW and extended beyond the limit of excavation. The trackway was cut by a pit from which 13th pottery was recovered. The remains of wheel ruts were visible in places. The trackway was partially overlain by silt in an area of depression suggesting flooding. Three horse-shoes identified as Clark Type 1 (late 9th – 13th century) were recovered from the silt deposit (Long 2010, 50).
