The precise location of a Chaff House in townland of Garristown has not been identified. A chaff house is a building used for storing husks from the grain crop (chaff) for animal feed after it has been threshed and winnowed in the barn. The 1654-56 Civil Survey of Dublin recorded stated that in Garristown on the lands of William Talbot of Robertstown, Co. Meath an Irish Papist, there stood; 'one Chaff house one Barne [DU003-011011-] & a kill house [DU003-011013-] valued by ye Jury at three poundes, one garden plott' (Simington 1945, 17).
