The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diam. c. 35m. A subcircular area enclosed by an earthen bank, a fosse and outer bank. The N side of the site has been modified for use as a field fence giving the site a D shaped plan. The shoulder of the hill has been exploited to add height to the inner bank and depth to the fosse it also gives the appearance of a raised interior. It is situated on a small drumlin forming a headland in Donegal Bay. The drumlin itself is good land but subject to being cut off by the tidal flooding of the marshy ground around its base.
The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Compiled by: Brian Lacey with Eamon Cody, Claire Cotter, Judy Cuppage, Noel Dunne, Vincent Hurley, Celie O'Rahilly, Paul Walsh and Seán Ó Nualláin (Lifford: Donegal County Council, 1983). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.
