The National Monuments Service's description
Described by Herity (1995, 88, House 2) as follows: ‘This house is also oblong and trapezoidal in plan. Its south wall forms the north end of the oratory enclosure and at 1.29m thick it is thicker than the west and north walls, which are respectively 58 and 65cm thick. The doorway faces away from the oratory enclosure and appears to have been in the west wall at the north-west corner. The south wall remains to a height of 58cm on the outer face; the east to a height of 85cm on the inner face. A massive upright slab, 1.22m tall, is built into the outer face of the west wall at its entrance to the oratory enclosure. The south wall of the house is oriented exactly east and west. The east wall joins this at an angle of 120 degrees and is 1.25m thick. The outer face is also the outer face here of the enclosure wall. Although only the lower courses of the north wall remain in part they are built in the same roughly coursed style of large oblong blocks as the other three walls. Here also there is no trace of corbelling and a coved roof sloping up from south to north seems to be the most likely method of roofing.’
