The National Monuments Service's description
Burt Church: The E 9m of this ruined church was railed off and converted (probably in the early 18th century) into a burial plot for the Fergusson family. There is no visible trace of the W half of the N wall and some footings probably indicate the line of the W gable. The church is 5.6m wide and the S wall is 18.5m long internally. The E gable and N and S walls were brought to uniform height, c. 3m, and capped. The blocked-up, lintelled, doorway in the N wall may not be an original feature but inserted to provide access to the burial plot. The two-light E window, also blocked-up, retains its transom and central mullion; the upper section having been truncated when the gable was reduced in height. The window probably dates to the 16th century. There is a narrow, lintelled window with internal splay at the W end of the S wall. The exterior wall-faces of the church are harled (probably contemporary with its conversion to a burial plot) and much of the interior is covered with memorials.
