The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diam. 17m. A circular area enclosed by a massive earthen bank and an external fosse. The bank survives between 1m and 2m in height all the way around. At the N side the bank has been disturbed and a modern fence built on top. Here three stones on edge have been revealed suggesting an internal revetment. The fosse is best preserved at the SW where it is over 1m deep and 3m wide. A gap 4.8m wide in the bank on the E side appears to be the disturbed remains of the entrance. The interior slopes from SW to NE and in general the N half is c. 1m lower than the rest. It is located in a commanding position on the N end of a N-S ridge sloping steeply to the E and W.
The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Compiled by: Brian Lacey with Eamon Cody, Claire Cotter, Judy Cuppage, Noel Dunne, Vincent Hurley, Celie O'Rahilly, Paul Walsh and Seán Ó Nualláin (Lifford: Donegal County Council, 1983). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.
