The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diam. c. 20m. A circular area enclosed by a partly ruined stone wall, originally up to 2.45m wide. Between 5m and 8m outside this inner wall, settings of single stones seem to indicate a second wall which would have been integrated with sections of rock outcrop. The interior of the cashel is uneven. Towards the SE is a spread of stones which may indicate a structure (DG037-010003-). In the NW is a partly filled-in souterrain (DG037-010002-). A 9m stretch is traceable alongside the inner face of the cashel wall. At the S end this turns through a right angle for 3m towards the centre. Where measureable, it is now .5m wide and 0.6m deep below the roof lintels, the tops of which are flush with the level of the cashel interior. The walls of the souterrain are of drystone construction. The site is located at the S end of a N-S stretch of high ground with steep falls to the N and W in an area of undulating pasture land.
The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Compiled by: Brian Lacey with Eamon Cody, Claire Cotter, Judy Cuppage, Noel Dunne, Vincent Hurley, Celie O'Rahilly, Paul Walsh and Seán Ó Nualláin (Lifford: Donegal County Council, 1983).
