The National Monuments Service's description
Originally a circular area (DG031-001001-), now bisected by a field boundary with the enclosing earthen bank built on a rock base, surviving NW of the boundary up to .7m in height. Very faint traces of the remainder can be seen SE of the field boundary. To the N and W of the bank a ridge of rock outcrop has been quarried within memory, giving the appearance of a fosse and an outer defense. The area to the N was used as a 'Children's Burial Ground' and some small stones are believed to be grave markers. Otherwise, the site is located in a grazing field sloping SW to the Drung river with good views over Lough Foyle.
The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Compiled by: Brian Lacey with Eamon Cody, Claire Cotter, Judy Cuppage, Noel Dunne, Vincent Hurley, Celie O'Rahilly, Paul Walsh and Seán Ó Nualláin (Lifford: Donegal County Council, 1983). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.
