The National Monuments Service's description

Internal diam. c. 36m.
A roughly circular area enclosed by an earthen bank, a fosse and an external bank. These have been destroyed for the most part of the SW quadrant. The inner bank is up to 2m high along a short stretch on the E side. The fosse is up to 3m wide and is c. 1m deep below ground surface. In places it appears to be rock cut. The outer bank survives in places up to .6m in height but never seems to have existed to the S where rock outcrop precluded its necessity. A 2.25m wide gap in the inner bank to the NE gives onto a causeway across the fosse and an 8m gap in the outer bank. The grass-covered interior rises slightly from N to S. The site is located c. 50m above the shore of Sheephaven Bay on light-soiled grazing land with several ridges of rock outcrop nearby.

The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Compiled by: Brian Lacey with Eamon Cody, Claire Cotter, Judy Cuppage, Noel Dunne, Vincent Hurley, Celie O'Rahilly, Paul Walsh and Seán Ó Nualláin (Lifford: Donegal County Council, 1983). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.
