At the W end of Greencastle golf course. Situated on level ground c. 80m from a rocky shoreline indented with a small sandy coves, on the NW side of the narrow entrance into Lough Foyle.
This assemblage of 24 worked flints, including cores, flakes and debitage, was recovered in 2019. The bulk of the lithics were found in situ in a narrow, shallow trench which was dug to lay an irrigation water pipe for the golf course. A few displaced flints were found scattered on the surface nearby. The discovery was reported to the National Monuments Service and the National Museum of Ireland, and the lithics were subsequently transferred to the Museum.
A large assemblage of lithics (DG022-010----; DG022-011; DG022-012----; DG022-013----), dating to the Earlier Mesolithic period, was recovered in the late 1990’s from the intertidal zone at the two small sandy coves which lie 100m and 250m to E.
