The National Monuments Service's description
This is believed locally to be the site of an early ecclesiastical foundation associated with St. Davaddog. Clondevaddock Church of Ireland church is still in use. In 1622, the church (DG017-015-) was undergoing restoration (Royal Commission, 217). It was restored about 1830 (Rowan 1979, 477) and the round-headed windows may be insertions of that date. The interior of the N wall preserves the splayed openings with segmental rear-arch of two small blocked-up windows; these are probably original features. In the E face of the N graveyard (DG017-015001-) gatepost is a carved corbel-like head of uncertain date. The pointed oval face is damaged particularly around the mouth, from which area stylised foliage projects on either side. It is claimed that there were 'early cross-slabs' and a 'holy well' in the vicinity but it was not possible to locate any futher evidence for them.
The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Compiled by: Brian Lacey with Eamon Cody, Claire Cotter, Judy Cuppage, Noel Dunne, Vincent Hurley, Celie O'Rahilly, Paul Walsh and Seán Ó Nualláin (Lifford: Donegal County Council, 1983). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.
