The National Monuments Service's description
A natural promontory with high ground to the land side dropping down to a level area before the narrow approaching neck and rising sharply to the promontory beyond. It is defended by an earthen bank with an internal ditch which may be modern, associated with the recent cultivation of the promontory.
The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.'
