The National Monuments Service's description

Initially identified (in Area B) during archaeological test trenching in advance of a quarry development in 2003 (Excavation Licence No. 03E1336) (Ó Drisceoil 2006, 24-5). Full excavation took place in 2007 (Excavation Licence No. 07E0962) (Cagney 2010; 22-3). Excavation revealed a sub-rectangular shaped trough (L 2m; Wth 1.77m; D 0.3m) which was filled with charcoal and burnt stones. No further burnt material was noted outside the trough. Found in close proximity to an Iron Age corn-drying kiln (CW016-120002-) and series of hearths, pits, postholes and stakehole (CW016-120003-). (Clark and Kozlowska 2009, 17, 26).
